MSN Groups Hosts Water Rockets Discussion group

MSN Group devoted to Water Rocketry is founded

Updated: 10:13 p.m. EDT (02:13 GMT) October 30, 2004
A new moderated forum has opened up on MSN Groups dedicated to the discussion of water rockets and water rocketry related topics.

The new MSN group is moderated to reduce the amount of spam and off-topic postings, while providing a community forum for enthusiasts interested in homemade rockets powered by compressed air and water. Topics range from circumferential bottle splicing, nosecone construction, fin design, FTC / PET adhesives, parachute deploy and recovery techniques, even how-to tutorials on use of tomy timers, onboard video cameras and launcher release mechanisms.

According to the group, Water rockets are typically made from discarded plastic soft drink bottles or fluorescent lamp protector tubes which are partially filled with water, then pressurized with air, and then are released. Single stage water rockets can reach altitudes over 1,500 feet, with top speeds over 300 miles per hour!

The group which can be accessed using the address http://groups.msn.com/WaterRockets
claims that having fun is a main theme for the existance of the discussion group itself.

Being a moderated group, all postings by new members must be approved until the new member is promoted to full posting status. This helps keep the group free of spam - spammers are not tolerated and are quickly banned.
